Claudia Rankine's play ended when a white male art collector took off his shirt, turned his back, and said, Shoot me, to a black female artist; and she grabbed her camera and positioned herself to shoot.
But it really didn't end there that evening at the A.R.T. production in Boston. After a short break, those who wanted stayed for discussion. Rankine's not going for shock-value, nor to be clever, although her work can be both. But she's truly interested in dialogue about race in America. A.R.T. has lots of useful information at their website, include a toolkit. https://americanrepertorytheater.org/events/show/white-card
